FAQ Bartender Training

Q: Why? Bartending School,Draw556

A: This is by far my favorite question. Before there were mixology schools, you would first be a host, bar-back, wait staff, food runner. When you finally ask to train as a bartender often you would lack the real world skills to be a great professional. Simply stated, many establishments just don’t have the time to train you. By taking our classes, you will have the real life skills and personal confidence to step behind any bar and start making money right away. On-line courses and do it yourself bartender classes don’t give you real live hands-on training with a professional instructor and that’s what you need to be a trained, motivated, and successful.

Q: I do not know anything about alcohol or drinks. Will it be hard for me to learn or to keep up with the class?

A: Most of the students start with little or no knowledge of tending bar or the service industry at all. The classes are broken up into separate lessons that make it easy to follow along and learn. Our veteran instructors make learning easy and fun. By the time your course is over, you will have the speed and knowledge to work in any bar environment. If you feel you still need more time to train, just call 1st,  come in and practice recipes for “free” whenever your schedule permits.

Q: What is the demand for Bartenders today?

A: Most jobs range from region to region. With over 1200 establishments in Denver Colorado that serve alcohol, there is always a demand for well-trained bartenders. As long as people want to go out and drink, there will be a demand for bartenders. This accredited school has been placing mixologist for denver employers for 30 years+.

Q: I have a full-time job. Will someone still hire me if I can only work part time?

A: Many new bartenders only work part time. A lot of people have a full or part time job doing other things. However, some people find that they do so well that they make it their full time job. We prepare you and train for whatever type schedule you would like to work. It’s up to you to set your career goals and strive to achieve them.

Q: How old do I have to be to be a bartender?

A: That depends on the State that you live in. In the State of Colorado you must be at least 18 to serve alcohol behind the bar. You must be at least 18 to serve alcoholic beverages as wait staff. We have students that come through before they turn 18, so that they can start bartending as soon as they’re 18. Must be 21 to drink alcoholic beverages, but only 18 to serve.

Q: What is the average age of a bartender?

A: Age has nothing or very little to do with the success of a bartender. Our classes include people of all ages to meet the needs of many different establishments. Just remember your ability, personality and attitude count for more than anything else. Success is determined by desire to be a successful and personal motivation.
